The Office for Supervision and Assessment of Medical Equipment was formed in Vice-Chancellor’s Office for Food and Drug Affairs following the implementation of the Health Development Plan, the restructuring of Directorate-General for Medical Devices and the transfer of this office to Food and Drug Administration. It aimed at monitoring the provision of services related to medical devices and supplies at the provincial level and promoting the health of consumers in line with providing the original medical devices and supplies of high quality and reasonable prices as well as obtaining the maximum satisfaction of people.

This office continuously monitors all distribution and supply of medical devices and supplies (guilds and corporations) in addition to monitoring how medical devices and supplies are provided and distributed in all academic and non-academic hospitals in the province. Registering the distributors to Directorate-General for Medical Devices and monitoring the legal chain distribution of goods, combating smuggling and striving for the achievement of the goals of the resistance economy and support for the internal production are other tasks of the Office. In addition, increasing the satisfaction of people, accountability and dealing with public complaints are on the agenda of this Office.
 

Goals

- Improving the quality of Human Resources of the Office
- Qualitative and quantitative improvement of provision of appropriate medical services in health centers of the Province
- Increasing the level of participation of people and other sectors related to the field of management activity
- Improving the process of providing medical facilities in the Province and facilitating the public access
- Trying to combat the distribution of illicit and poor medical devices in the Province
- Supervising the performance of academic and non-academic hospitals, guilds and distributive companies in the province to ensure compliance with communicative guidelines to promote community health and safety
- Increasing stakeholder awareness by holding classes, providing posters and pamphlets


Duties

- Issuance and renewal of the activity identification card for distributor companies of medical devices in the covered area
- Issuance and renewal of the activity identification card for the supply companies and guilds of the medical devices in the covered area
- Precise recording and notification of unwanted events and quality problems of medical devices and supplies, and monitoring as well as following up the subject up to the outcome
- Coordination and cooperation with competent legal and regulatory authorities in the University, Ministry and judicial authorities
- Supervising and monitoring the affairs related to the fight against and prevention of the smuggling medical devices and supplies, and cooperation with the relevant organizations and institutions
- Formulating instructions on how to provide and purchase medical devices and supplies at subsidiary centers
- Preparation and compilation of the annual list of medical devices and supplies in the subsidiary health centers
- Steady presence in the meetings of the committees related to provide and purchase medical devices and supplies as the secretary of the committee
- Establishing required software for standards of medical devices and supplies of the headquarters
- Training technical authorities for covered centers and units such as governmental and non-governmental organizations, companies, factories and growth educational centers
- Handling complaints
- Needs assessment, planning and holding training courses required for medical device staff
